Snow Equipment Update

Through partnership with Avflight, the airport invested in new snow equipment in 2023. Ahead of the winter season, Avflight purchased a Snow Sweeper truck, a De-Ice truck and a pickup truck with a plow attachment and back blade. In addition, we’ve been testing a new runway de-icing chemical called NAAC, which is an aircraft-safe, non-corrosive chemical that melts ice down to zero degrees Fahrenheit.

Keeping the airport runways safe, clean and open year-round further solidifies the airport as a community and business asset. The new snow equipment will help ensure the community can count on WMRA to remain open and operational in a multitude of weather scenarios. The airport is also fostering ongoing conversations with tenants to ensure snow removal strategies are presented and that tenants have an opportunity to provide feedback regarding on-field operations.
