Meet the WMRAA Board: Devin Shea

Meet Devin Shea, WMRAA board’s Vice Chair.

As a WMRAA board member and a member of the Holland City Council, he feels deeply connected to his community. Devin grew up in Park Township, but after graduating high school, he moved out west. He returned to Holland after 10 years away, and describes a new sense of appreciation for the community he grew up in.

“After moving back and living in the city of Holland, I realized how cool a place it was. It was no longer just my hometown,” Devin said.

His interest in joining the WMRAA board originally stemmed from his predecessor Dave Hoekstra, who Devin looked up to. After being elected himself, Devin started to really dive into aviation at large.

“It has all been so interesting and I have fallen in love with understanding the ins and outs of the industry.” He remarked.

Devin brings experience as both a real estate appraiser and Holland City Council member to his responsibilities at the airport. Through his skills, he is able to offer valuable insight and direction on development projects, as well as solid governance and budget balancing.

He truly feels that the airport is an asset to everyone in the community. Whether they start a new career through the flight school, utilize the beautiful conference rooms or just come to watch the airplanes, Devin hopes they are able to take advantage of the wonderful community asset that he and the fellow board members work to support.

For Devin, being able to positively affect his community through serving the airport has been a source of joy in his life.

Serving in this community has been a key pillar in my life in recent years. I love the connections you get to make while supporting the residents and local businesses.” he says.

As his work at WMRA continues, Devin aims to further community involvement and showcase the critical role the airport plays for the local economy. He cares deeply about the airport’s opportunities for growth and hopes to continue increasing service offerings for the greater good of the community.
