Meet the WMRAA Board: Ken Brandsen

Meet board member Ken Brandsen! Ken serves on the WMRAA board as the Client Leader of Progressive AE.

Before joining the board, Ken spent several years serving on the Airport Advisory Committee to the City of Holland. The committee’s goal was to purchase, build and maintain a centralized airport in collaboration with other willing townships. Years later, he served as project manager for the Business Center at WMRA through his role at Progressive Companies, the multidisciplinary design firm chosen to lead the project. This rich connection to the West Michigan Regional Airport fostered Ken’s interest in joining the board.

“I love being engaged with community assets. They are key contributors to the success of a region and provide direct value to the communities residents and visitors.” Ken expressed.

Through his role as Project Manager at Progressive Companies he brings unique experience in real estate, facilities design and construction in many locations around the United States. This experience lends him a unique lens, drawing a connection to on-going development goals and the board’s continued focus on the liveliness of the airport.

Ken believes that the airport is the global gateway for the community’s economic growth and vitality. Through his work on the board, he hopes to continue to support the synergistic value of the airport’s role with the local economy.

“West Michigan Regional Airport is a vital asset that leverages federal funding to the benefit of our community.” He said.

Ken references the original project timeline of the airport, encouraging everyone to look how far they have come. From a grass runway to all the airport has to offer today, his sentiment for the future is clear. Onward and upward!
