[July 13, 2023, Holland, MI] — At the July 10 board meeting, West Michigan Regional Airport Authority (WMRAA) approved the transfer of its existing fixed based operator (FBO) contract with FlightLevel Aviation to Michigan-based Avflight. An FBO is a private business contracted with an airport to maintain operations, fuel service, maintenance and other related services.
“After careful evaluation, we are pleased to welcome Avflight to West Michigan Regional Airport as our FBO. Not only does Avflight provide the high-quality services our users expect, but it also demonstrates a deep understanding of the needs of our diverse customers and community,” said Aaron Thelenwood, West Michigan Regional (WMRA) Airport director.
As part of the agreement, Avflight indicated the intent to maintain staffing levels and provide jobs to current FlightLevel employees.
Avflight provides FBO services to 24 other airports throughout the entire United States, as well as locations in Canada and Europe, and has a large Midwest presence as a Michigan-based company. It will continue to provide the same services offered by FlightLevel Aviation.
“We are impressed with Avflight’s global mindset and commitment to safe, convenient and expedient travel,” said Thelenwood. “Avflight’s knowledge and well-established experience as an industry leader within West Michigan and beyond will make it a great asset to our tenants, visitors and community.”
The transfer officially closed on July 12, 2023, and Avflight will begin the transition immediately.
